A guide to Crete

Welcome to a mobile guide to Crete, the largest of the Greek islands and one of the largest in Europe. For many, Crete is synonymous with a tourist trap, a big grinder, chewing up thousands of sun-thirsty visitors from the north every week. For me, however, it is a beautiful, fascinating place, full of magnificent views, Minoan, Roman and Greek ruins, flanked by proud buildings erected by the Venetians in the 15th century…. Right next door, you’ll find traces of the Turkish occupation, and even now completely contemporary reminders of German troops from World War II…. And when you get tired of sightseeing, the beaches in Crete are some of the best and most beautiful in Europe (fact, they are also the most crowded).

Audioguides and More!

We have prepared six unique audioguides!

  • Explore the Samaria Gorge, it is Crete’s most famous (and certainly longest) natural attraction. You will definitely find our trail map useful – it works offline so you will always know where you are. It’s also worth taking a look at our blog! – We have some ideas for you on how to organise a trip to the gorge.
  • Also worth a visit is the reconstructed but still very interesting palace at Knossos, the island’s main archaeological attraction. You can visit the ruins with an English-speaking guide, but you can also use our app…. and visit in Polish!
  • We’ll also take a look at the bug-filled 🙂 fortress at Rethymnon, a testament to the former power of the Venetians.
  • And while you’re in Rethymnon, why not drive to the south of the island, to the charming Preveli Monastery?
  • Those of you visitng the eastern part of the island – will definitely hook up with Spinalonga, a 20th century leper colony. With us – you can visit it in Polish!
  • And lovers of strolling through charming towns are sure to appreciate our guide to the old Venetian harbour of Chania!

And if ruins (or audio guides) are not what you like…. Beach lovers will certainly appreciate the detailed descriptions of over 20 of the most interesting and best beaches in Crete in our opinion. Including the type of sand, access and facilities for showers and toilets! We wouldn’t be able to list them all, but what we present to you will certainly allow you to spend long and pleasant moments by the sea.

Apart from this, we have for you descriptions of many other intriguing places on the island. So. don’t wait 🙂 Download our app (you’ll find links below) and discover the largest of the Greek islands yourself!
